Environmental Devastation in Ecuador

Deforestation and oil spills have stained the Ecuadorian countryside, where mostly indigenous peoples reside. With a constitution that lacks protective legislation, many companies have gotten away with destroying these lands and marginalizing the peoples living there.
 The global economy seeks immediate profit without considering the future well-being of peoples
and lands, which conflicts with the long-term indigenous peoples' worldview.
